Time Trials (TTs)
In a TT you race alone against the clock. Rhyl CC organises TTs throughout the year:
- New Years Day TT. An early test of fitness for those willing to brave the cold.
Held on the D1/9 course.
- Wednesday Evening TTs. Held from April to September these events take place near Denbigh and on the A55.
- Points League. Each none open club TT forms part of a season long points league. Ten points are awarded for finishing first down to one point for
finishing tenth. If you finish outside the top ten you are also awarded one point. The rider who accumulates the
most points during the season wins the league.
- Open TT. This 25 mile open event is held on the
D25/9 course and
usually takes place at 7am on the last Sunday in June. To enter ( at least 14 days before the event), complete a
Cycling Time Trial's Open Event Entry Form
and send it along with a cheque (made payable to RHYL CC) for £7 to Bill Twigg, Hillcrest, Rhewl Fawr Road, Penyffordd, Holywell, Flintshire, CH8 9HJ.
Note that the parent/guardian of a minor (under 18) must complete a
Cycling Time Trial's Parental Consent Form.
- Open Mountain TT. This hilly, 37 mile open event is held on the
D37/2 course and is not
for the feint hearted.The event is on Sunday May 24th starting at 8:00am in Denbigh. Entries to: Fergus Murray, Avoca, Llandyrnog, Denbighshire, LL16 4LT.
Enter using either one of the following forms at least 14 days before the event:-
MS Word application form or a
PDF application form
- Hill Climb. The quickest up
Rhuallt Hill
wins this club championship event which marks the end of the TT season.
A competitor must be a member of a cycling club affiliated to
Cycling Time Trials (CTT) or the
Scottish Cyclists' Union (SCU).
Non-members can participate in come and try it events.
All Denbigh based TTs are come and try it events and are free to first time participants for the first 2 events only, thereafter they must join a club. Members of a CTT/SCU affiliated cycling club,
including Rhyl CC, must pay £1 to ride a TT.

You must be at least twelve years old to ride a TT and if you are under eighteen you must wear a protective
hard shell helmet and your parent/guardian must complete a
Cycling Time Trial's Parental Consent Form.
