This is an early notice for the 2010 Reliability ride, 21st March 9:am Denbigh leisure centre.
Three routes short, middle and long, how imaginative is that!! They will follow the usual format flat with a bit of up and just as much down so all in all no problem.
Interesting route with plenty of good scenery and I can assure you, you will do the hill this time and I can guarantee you will love it.
More details of routes soon, El Fatto!! |

This is the route for the "Middle Distance" I wanted 50miles but finished with 46miles never mind if there are any complaints I am sure I can put in an extra steep bit to make up the distance in fact I know I can

Here is the Long route 96km, 1500m ascent, should be good for a early season challenge.

For those who might need a cuppa, or my favourite, CAKE !! there are two possible stops one at Country cooks in Maerdy just before Llangwm on A5 or in Cerrig just before entering the village, small transport cafe on right on A5.
Hope you enjoy the route please copy the map and cue sheet to bring with you on the ride, although I will have better signage this year so no one will have an excuse to miss the main climb of the day. |

Don't forget to print off your route sheets before the ride, go to the ride maps and view the ride on Bikely. See you Sunday 21st. |

All routes fully marked out, I don't think the locals can remove this years direction arrows. |

Great ride - Thanks Mel
I'm goosed, can't beleive the Lad has just gone up to the park with his mates
He gave me a bit of a wobble at the end when he wasn't in the car park to meet me!!!!
He had a bit of a struggle around 30 miles, but after a quick re-fuel he got his second wind and there was no stopping him (apart from having to keep waiting for me!), first time he has been on his road bike since the last relability ride. |

Well done to all who rode on Sunday 50 signed on , I think the route was appreciated by most allthough my ears were burning on a few occasions through the day.
Rhian was first back on the Middle route with a time of 3:15, followed in shortly by the speed merchants on the long route, Allan, Mike and Matt returning in a time of 3:33.
The stabiliser award goes to Phil for the best gravel rash, apparently there was a bit of rough ground here and there and some steep decents.
The map reading award can go to only one person,
FERGUS MURRAY
Fergus spent three hours on Saturday checking the routes out with myself, cue sheet and OS map in hand, yet he still managed to lead three Melyd riders who like himself had passes from home to spend a few hours to ride the long route, to be back in Denbigh 2 hours 15 minutes after starting out having followed Fergus on the short route.
I don't think Chris Lord should follow a Rhyl shirt again at least he didn't do 115 miles on a 50mile route this year.
Other notable rides came from Roger Bennion who rode the long one having intended to ride the short route but thought what the hell its a lovelly day, his first time on an event like this.
Ann Marie from Abergele completing the short route in 2:25 having ridden the whole event with 20psi tyre pressure and mudguards full of mud rubbing on the tyres.
Young Mr Smith who at the age of twelve spent the day riding the long route waiting every couple of miles for the old man to catch up and that being the first time he had ridden his road bike since last years ride.
Dyfan who rode the short one on a mountain bike
Finally to Geoff (75yrs) and Margerate(!!!) who rode the short route carrying the flask and sandwiches in her saddlebag and having a great sight seeing day out in the Vale of Clwyd.Their words not mine .
I hope I didn't miss anyone coming in to the centre if I did I appologise, heres to next years ride any feed back on the route or marking of same please let me know.
Thanks to all who donated monies £110 collected which I propose to send to Hope House.

Many thanks to Mel for organising this (and Bernie for the tasty cakes afterwards!) Thoroughly enjoyed the long route, although the final big climb of the day up from Betws GG had me swaying a bit - it felt longer than the last time I did it (Mel up to his old tricks again!)
Diolch,

He's not 12 till next Feb, I'm going to make sure he has a mobile phone next year, I still feel sick thinking about it!!
Let us know when the pictures are availble.
Guy's in work had a good ride with a couple of "duels" along the way - who said it wasn't a race, and I think one of them missed the climb from Betwys GG |
